| A representative knowledgeable of the work
performed is required to accompany the judges on January 18th to describe the work while the project is being
evaluated.
The nominated projects must be accessible to the judging team and the work related to the trade being judged must be completed and must be exposed for review.
Concealed work cannot be judged and will not be considered unless detailed photos are available that clearly shows the work to be exceptional in nature.
The nomination form must include a clear description of the work and why it is considered exceptional.
PLEASE BE SURE THAT THE NOMINATION FORM IS COMPLETELY FILLED OUT AND IN COMPLIANCE WITH ALL RULES OF ENTRY.

ELIGIBILITY All craftsmen, whether employed on job sites, in plants, or in shops, performing work in either the architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, or other general trades are eligible for nomination. Shop drawing draftsmen and foremen are eligible as well, provided they work with tools. In cases where each member of a team is equally responsible for exceptional craftsmanship, nominations may be made for a special group award. Group awards will be limited to six craftsmen. RULES OF ENTRY1. All nominations must be received by the WBC with payment no later than November 17, 2006. No nominations will be accepted after this date. 2. A nomination fee of $250 is required with each entry. Checks should be made payable to the Washington Building Congress. Checks should be made to the Washington Building Congress. There are no refunds after submission of nominations. 3. There are no limitations to the number of entries in the 10 trade categories. However, the craftsmen may not be entered into the same subcategory for the same project more than once. It must be clearly specified on the nomination submittal form which category each project is being entered in. 4. A completed nomination form must accompany each entry. Please duplicate nomination form for multiple entries. 5. All nominations shall be limited to trade work completed between September 1, 2005 and December 31, 2006. 6. Jobs sites and fabrication shops must be located in the Washington Metropolitan Area (District of Columbia, Anne Arundel County, Montgomery County, Prince Georges County, Howard County, Arlington County, City of Alexandria, Fairfax County, Loudoun County, Prince William County). A craftsperson whose work is shipped out of the area may be eligible provided special arrangements are made for judges to view the work for evaluation prior to shipment. Work shipped into the area may be evaluated on the basis of installation only. 7. Either the craftsmen’s employer, architect, engineer, general contractor or nominator must be a member of the Washington Building Congress. 8. Please include a photograph of each project along with the form, or describe precisely to assist the evaluators in locating the work nominated. Please indicate project name and category on the back of each photo. Additionally, please provide directions and/or a map to the project site. 9. Companies who have nominated winners in each category, and projects nominated for Star Awards, will be asked to provide a minimum of two color photos of their project, clearly marked for top/bottom, along with their camera-ready company logo, to be used during the presentation at the Awards Banquet. All entries become property of the Washington Building Congress and may be used for publication or any other purpose. Please note: Evaluating teams must be permitted access to view the nominated work on January 18, 2007, between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Access to nominated jobs is the responsibility of the nominator. |

EVALUATION TEAMS AND JUDGING Each nominated project will be evaluated on January 18, 2007 between 9:00 am and 5:00 p.m. by a team made up of 3 to 5 individuals with experience evaluating projects in particular categories. Team members represent a broad cross-section of the construction industry, including architects, interior designers, general contractors, subcontractors, construction consultants, and engineers. Each team member will evaluate the project independently. The evaluators also make recommendations for the Star Awards nominees to the Craftsmanship Awards Committee.
