Mechanics' Liens in the DMV Morning Seminar

Friday, February 22, 2019 (8:30am - 10:15am US/Eastern)
WBC Conference Room
1100 Vermont Avenue, NW [map]
Suite 700
Washington, DC 20005

The program will cover tips and strategies to maximize potential benefit of mechanic's liens, both for GCs and subs / suppliers. The requirements and benefits of mechanic's liens vary within the three neighboring jurisdictions (DC, MD, VA) and understanding these differences is critical for contractors in the Metro Washington region. We plan to discuss not just the nuts and bolts of preserving rights and filing mechanic's liens, but most importantly the potential risks and rewards of initiating and obtaining mechanic's liens on jobs where you haven't been paid. We will also cover the interplay between the various contract documents and mechanic's liens, specifically indemnification and bonding off obligations.
