Arlington, VA — SIGAL Construction Corporation has completed the 21,000 SF renovation and addition at 920 Rhode Island Avenue, NE. The project, owned by Douglas Development and designed by GTM Architects, is located across the street from the Rhode Island Avenue metro station in the developing Brentwood neighborhood of Washington, DC.
This project for a government tenant involved a tight urban site with two buildings separated by a narrow pedestrian alley. The one story building facing Rhode Island Avenue was completely renovated, including a full interior demolition, construction of interior partitions, doors, finishes and modifications to existing HVAC, plumbing and electrical systems. The two story building on the opposite corner of the site was demolished to leave only the core standing. The core is surrounded by a new two story structure that includes an elevator, partitions, doors, finishes and new HVAC, plumbing and electrical systems.
SIGAL attributes the success of this project to the project team including the Owner, Architect and SIGAL’s subcontractors.
