Mr. Allen Y. Lew

District of Columbia City Administrator

Wednesday, November 9, 2011

Mayor Vincent Gray created the Department of General Services (DGS) for fiscal year 2012, which began October 1.  The huge new agency has a $354 million operating budget and a project portfolio of about $2 billion for the six-year capital budget.  The agency will take over the duties of the Department of Real Estate Services, Office of Public Education Facilities Modernization and the Municipal Facilities: Non-Capital agency, as well as construction and real estate management duties from other city agencies.

City Administrator Allen Lew reports directly to the Mayor and has direct oversight over all executive-reporting agencies.  The City Administrator prepares the District's annual operating budget and provides direction to all agencies to ensure they are meeting the needs of District residents.

The Office of the City Administrator (OCA) is responsible for the day-to-day management of the District government, setting operational goals and implementing legislative actions and policy decisions approved by the Mayor and DC Council.  Please join us for this informative presentation.
