The Community Services Committee is encouraging WBC members to participate in the 2023 Anacostia Watershed Society Earth Day Cleanup. This event is being held on Saturday, April 22, from 10:00 a.m. to 12 noon. Each year, thousands of volunteers come out to dozens of sites around the watershed to pick-up trash, serve their communities and enjoy the Anacostia River.

Volunteers will meet in the morning at the Seafarers Yacht Club in Southwest Waterfront. Organized in 1945, Seafarers is the oldest African American yacht club in the United States and was formed exclusively to foster educational, recreational, charitable, cultural, historical and environmental knowledge and activities relative to boating.

The Seafarers Yacht Club location is limited to 75 volunteers and online registration will close when full. Kids are welcome to participate and must also be registered. This event counts toward Student Service Learning hours (SSL). Bring your forms and site leaders or AWS staff will sign off.

Please register directly using the link below and let WBC know when confirmed so we have an idea how many will be participating. Be sure to dress appropriately for the weather and wear clothes you don’t mind getting dirty.
